The One Thing You Need to Create (It’s Not Confidence, It’s Courage)
Have you ever been in front of a camera or a blank page, completely frozen? You know you have something to say, something to share, but the words just won’t come out. Instead, your mind is flooded with doubts.
I know that feeling intimately. When I stare into the camera, a voice in my head tells me, “I think I am old, I am ugly, I don’t speak English well enough.” It’s a powerful, terrifying feeling.
But I’ve learned something important: the only way to win against fear is to do the thing you’re afraid of. You acknowledge the fear, and then you act anyway.
Why Courage Comes Before Confidence
I’ll be honest with you. I feel old. I know I’m not the most fluent English speaker. But I also know that if you want to be heard, you have to speak up, even if your voice trembles. I want to share my message, so I choose to make my videos in English.
The secret isn’t confidence. I don’t always feel confident. The secret is courage. Courage is what allows you to press “record” or hit “publish,” even with all your insecurities. It’s about giving your work to the world and accepting that what happens, happens.
I know it’s hard. I feel it every single time. But the only solution I’ve found is to just do it. Then do it again, and again, and again. Confidence isn’t something you wait for; it’s something that might (or might not) come after your tenth or twentieth video. What matters is starting.
If I Can Do It, You Can Too
The real win for me after sharing a video like this is hearing that it gave someone else the push they needed to start their own project. Because I truly believe that if I can do this, you can do it too.
It’s all a matter of courage.
