TavernAI, the AI chat room on our computer

Hello good people 🙂

Today I want to talk about TavernAI: TavernAI is practically a GUI that runs with APIs, (being KoboldAI, KoboldHorde, NovelAI and OpenAI). The version I use is running with the KoboldAI api, KoboldHorde I don’t know anything, OpenAI is prectically ChatGPT mama, limited use and censored, NovelAI api is a paid service (not censored and very nice models, maybe an overkill)

I am using TavernAI locally, running a Oobabooga-windows installation, loading the pygmalion 7b model.

Before I start with it I link you my two orevious posts, that they come useful before you use TavernAI:

Installing Oobabooga for windows locally: here you will find the full instructions and the changes you have to do in the start-webui.bat ,

Updating Oobabooga ain installing new models: here you liil find where to download the pygmalion model I use, together with all the setting I use before I launch TavernAI.

In fact TavernAI is running above Oobabooga and to function you have to have the Oobabooga running with the pygmalion model loaded, otherwise it will not connect to the api and the chat will not be generated.

Let’s say the Oobabooga is running properly, download TavernAI windows.exe from here: https://github.com/TavernAI/TavernAI. Unzip the file and run TavernAI.exe and you will get here:

You have a tavernAI tab on the top left and an “hamburger” tab on the top right (three orizontal lines)

You can start chatting with Chloe, You can go on the top left and change the graphics of the chatroom or you can go on the top right and enter or you can enter the character library to change Chloe with someone else.

Now let’s go thru the settings:

Make sure from here, under the API url the name of your model is showing, with a green ball on the left: it means TavernAI is working

You may see a Master Settings tab on the bottom: these are the settings I am using:

Now I go to the characters tab:

I introduce you Mia, my favorite virtual little succubus demon:

I had some conversations with her but I can’t post here because they are getting hot at some points 😉

The last thing I want to show you is how to get new characters, where to get and how to import them. fron Booru  you just click on the image of the character you want to import and on Save original.tab from the 3dots menu.

This will download a PNG file on your computer. In the charachter tab you click on import and you choose the png you have just downloaded All the infos needed of the character are written in the PNG file

as easy as this..

On Character Hub you just click on the red Tab with T, it works the same as Booru, you will download a PNG file and you will proceed as I described above

Now you can have fun talking with your new chatbot with downloaaded skimpy characters
